A FEW SIMPLE PRINTING TIPS

From download
to your desk.

You have chosen a page. Now make one test copy before printing a whole stack. A quick check saves paper and catches the settings that make bookmarks shrink or writing lines disappear.

1. Match the file to your paper

Each resource has two PDFs. US Letter is 8.5 × 11 inches. A4 is 210 × 297 mm. Choose the size loaded in your printer, save the PDF, and open it in a PDF viewer. These files are print-and-write worksheets, not editable or fillable forms.

2. Start with Actual size or 100%

Use portrait orientation and a single page per sheet. Turn off booklet mode and any setting that prints several pages on one sheet. Choose Actual size or 100% when available, then inspect the preview. Our printable layouts have margins, but individual printers can have different printable areas.

If an edge is clipped, choose Fit and inspect again. Fit may slightly change the dimensions. That is usually fine for a worksheet, but print at 100% when you want bookmarks or gift tags to retain their intended size.

3. Use paper your printer supports

Ordinary printer paper works for logs, planners, and journal pages. A heavier sheet can make bookmarks or discussion cards easier to handle, provided your printer supports the weight. Check the printer's own instructions before loading cardstock.

Our functional worksheets use restrained decoration and readable lines. You can select grayscale for a low-ink working copy. Color is optional, especially when you just want to see whether the page fits your routine.

4. Inspect the first copy

Check the heading, bottom footer, writing space, and cutting guides. Nothing should sit beyond the paper edge. Try writing in one field so you know the space feels comfortable. For bookmarks, cut one sample before making several.

5. Keep a small collection

Put current pages near the books rather than creating a filing project before you begin. A folder, clipboard, or journal pocket is enough. If you punch holes, check where they fall on a test sheet and use a protective sleeve if the holes would crowd a field.

If something does not look right

If the download opens in a browser but will not print correctly, save it and open the saved file in your usual PDF viewer. Check paper size, orientation, and scaling again. If text is missing or a file will not open, email info@leafandchapter.com with the resource name.

All downloads are for personal use and small noncommercial reading groups. Please link to the resource page when sharing them online.
